“Empowerment through coaching within Erasmus+” a fost un curs de formare in care lucratorii de tineret și mentorii SEV au aflat cum să folosească tehnici de coaching pentru a-i sustine pe tinerii cu care lucreaza in procesul lor de atingere a obiectivelor personale, in contexul E+ de invatare non-formala (Tineret in Actiune, EVS, schimburi de tineri etc)

In activitatea cu tinerii, a devenit tot mai importanta capacitatea de a sustine procesul lor de invatare – atat in mod direct in viata de zi cu zi, cat si într-un schimb de tineri sau in cadrul SEV. Prin intermediul acestui training am avut ocazia de a exersa abilități și tehnici de coaching pe care le pot folosi in activitatea mea de mentor, cum sa-i motivez si sa le dau incredere tinerilor cu care lucrez sa-si ia viata in propriile maini si sa-si asume alegerile pe care le fac (=empowerment). Procesul acesta a început cu procesul de “empowerment” a participantilor insisi, prin practicarea tehnicilor de coaching – folosindu-ne de probleme reale, fie la nivel professional, fie personal.

Metodele de invatare au avut la baza principii de educație non-formală; a fost incurajata învățarea prin practică (learning by doing) si au avut loc atat sesiuni de reflectare individuala, cat si in grup.

A fost o experienta inedita sa ma aflu in postura de coachee si sa-mi dau seama de importanta coachingului/ mentoratului, in mod special in viata unui voluntar. Cunostintele practice dobandite imi vor imbunatati modul de abordare a activitatii de mentorat in cadrul EVS, iar acum ma simt mult mai stapana pe ceea ce am de facut si inteleg mai bine rolul de mentor.

“Empowerment through coaching within Erasmus+” was training that showed youth workers & EVS mentors how to use coaching techniques for empowerment of young people in non-formal learning activities in E+.

Therefore, the general objective of the ’empowerment through coaching’ training was to train and empower educators (youth workers, youth leaders, EVS mentors,…) in using coaching techniques and competences in an Erasmus+/Youth in Action context (grassroots youth-work, youth exchanges, EVS framework etc.)

In European youth-work, the importance of being able to support ‚learners’ individually – whether at the grassroots, everyday level or within a European youth exchange or the EVS framework – has become more and more evident. With the ‘Empowerment through coaching’ training, I had the opportunity to practice coaching skills and techniques to use in my own work and projects to empower the individuals I work with to take more ownership of their life paths and choices. The process of the training started with empowering participants themselves! This happened through practicing coaching techniques directly with each other – using real life issues and choices participants were facing either on a professional or personal level.

The training methodology was based on non-formal education principles, encouraged self-directed learning and learning-by-doing, included individual and group reflection and relied on peer-to-peer learning and experience sharing.
